GIE EXPO 2013. The Green Industry Expo Is a great show to see the latest and greatest in new machinery and products. Lawn, Landscape, garden, farm, greenhouse, or DIY homeowner. Hundreds of exhibits each with a representative you can learn more from. By simply scanning your show badge you can receive more info via email or regular mail. Not only can you speak to representatives you can demo the equipment outside. This year, 2013, it was cold out there! A few years back the show was held in the hot summer sun. Personally, I’d opt for a little heat vs the cold. Anyhow, neat show. The 2014 show is scheduled for Oct 22-24. If you’re in the market for a new machine here are some things to consider about mower deck size. If your a real equipment enthusiast I would give yourself both days to go around see everything. Louisville has a lot to offer after the show. During one visit we had diner and a short cruise on a river boat. Parking wasn’t an issue and the cost is $8.00. The expo center is right of the 264 by pass. It’s also right next to the airport. It’s best to pre register for the show online. They will send your show badges via regular mail. Few years ago the show was free if you registered early enough. This season I paid $25 per person.
I’ve been to several of these shows. However, since I moved, the last one I went to was in 2006. I did notice a difference in that the show seemed to be scaled back some. Not near as many free handouts. kohler used to have a free lunch outdoors, that was gone to. Sign of the times I guess. Admission price was another issue. Few years ago it was free.
Outdoors your find equipment to demo. Mowers (no blades!), aerators, front loaders, backhoes, just to name a few. All of which you can try out. Half the equipment there I didn’t have a need for but just wanted to play with it!
